英語：“Osaka Expo visitors top 20 million as crowds surge”

The Osaka Expo had drawn 20,037,000 visitors as of Sept. 18, preliminary data released by the organizer showed Sept. 19.

The cumulative number of visitors topped 20 million on the Expo’s 159th day since the April 13 opening, according to the data by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition.

The 2005 World Expo in Aichi Prefecture reached 20 million visitors on its 176th day.

Ahead of the Oct. 13 closing, the Osaka Expo is attracting visitors at a rapid pace, with the daily turnout exceeding 200,000. The organizer estimates the figure will continue at the same level.

“The venue was very crowded,” a 26-year-old woman from Naha said Sept. 18. “As I had imagined that it would be crowded, I was able to enjoy (the expo) enough,” said a 57-year-old woman from Tokyo.

“I just waited in line, and now it’s time to go home,” said a 69-year-old man from Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. “I guess it can’t be helped.”

A 76-year-old woman from Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, failed to secure a reservation to enter the pavilions. She was pleased, however, after purchasing the Yemeni accessories she wanted.

2025年の万博を取り仕切る日本国際博覧会協会が発表したデータによると、累計来場者数は、４月13日の開幕から万博の159日目に200万人を超えたという。

2005年の愛知万博は開幕から176日目に200万人に達した。

10月13日の閉幕を前に、大阪・関西万博は急速なペースで来場者を集め、一日の来場者数は20万人を超えている。主催者は、その数値は同じ水準で継続するだろうと見込んでいる。

「会場はとても混雑していました」と那覇市から来た26歳の女性は９月18日に述べた。「混んでいるだろうとは想像していたので、（万博を）十分に楽しむことができました」と東京から来た57歳の女性は話した。

「列で待っていただけで、もう帰る時間です」と青森県弘前市から来た69歳の男性は語った。「仕方がないですね」。

石川県金沢市から来た76歳の女性は、展示館に入るための予約を確保できなかったが、は欲しかったイエメンのアクセサリーを購入し満足していた。
